Smrz has confirmed that he had made in Superpole qualifying and past the fear of narrow qualification to phase two in the second and third sessions has always known how to make the most of tire time and will start tomorrow from the front row together with two surprises Superpole this Dutch Laverty and Haga. The Yamaha rider seemed to be in crisis and in the tests had never been expressed at high levels. Evidently he was working to give the maximum at the right time. The Japanese conquest of April a front row that could lead to tomorrow’s two races as a protagonist. Noriyuki is starting to find the right feeling with his new bike and with his new team and if the reasons they will not defect Nitronori could return to fight for the positions that count.
Rea opened the second row from which we expected something more. Of course, the right wrist is still not in place, but this is the home track and his team hoped certainly a different result. We expected something more even Biaggi but after destroying the first bike in practice in the afternoon had to use the second Aprilia at his disposal with which he had shot very little. Max suffers from problems of chatter at the front and hopes to resolve them before the two races tomorrow. Good for seventh place Sykes remains the top driver of the Kawasaki. A slip in the third round has compromised the final result of Melandri who was preparing to give the assault on the pole of Checa, but finished in the sand of the escape route. As for the second row of Biaggi Melandri does not preclude a race to the summit of Melandri. Disappoint the two BMW Haslam and Corser who were not able to enter the final phase, as well as Camier and Lascorz.
The chronicle of the Superpole
In the first phase that precedes Laverty best time for his team-mate Melandri. In third place ahead of Haga, Corser, Biaggi Haslam, Sykes, Rea, Camier, Checa, Lascorz and Smrz. Rider Effenbert-Liberty after dominating the evidence, threatened to be excluded in the first round, since the final lap Fabrizio useful did worse of him for only ten milliseconds. In addition to Fabrizio missed the phase two also Xaus, Guintoli and Badovini.
Smrz draws in the second session with a time of 1’35 “523 above Checa, Rea, Melandri, Biaggi, Sykes, Laverty and Haga. Surprising exclusion of both BMW drivers who do not have access then the third and final stage, along with Lascorz and Camier that assigns Haga for only 7 / 10 of a second.
The third session opens with the best time in Checa 1’35 “292. Laverty and Smrz approach the pilot of the Althea team but could not improve his time. Melandri on his first flying lap of the session drops and ended the eighth. Nobody can do better than Checa wins Superpole as the third in a row after those of Donington and Phillip Island. Second place went to Smrz, before Laverty and Haga. Second row for Johnny Rea in front of Sykes, Biaggi and Marco Melandri.
