Dani Pedrosa passed world champion Jorge Lorenzo with four laps to go to capture his first Moto GP Portuguese Grand Prix on Sunday and get his first victory of the season.
Pedrosa overcame pain from recent shoulder surgery to win on the 2.599-mile Estoril circuit after passing his fellow Spaniard on the inside.
Lorenzo started in the pole position, but could not shake Pedrosa and failed to win the race for the fourth straight time.
Pedrosa's Honda teammate Casey Stoner finished third, while five-time winner Valentino Rossi came in fifth.
Marco Simoncelli of Italy was second off the start line, but crashed on the first lap and could not continue.
