Rain started to fall just before the second session of free practice for the Moto2 class started, making it perhaps worse than a washout: the track was too wet to work on dry setup, and not wet enough to work on a proper wet setup, meaning that most of the riders spent the entire session sitting in the pits. The fast times were set early, but mean very little, though Yuki Takahashi once again topped the timesheets.

The big question being asked when the concept of the Claiming Rule Teams was introduced to the 2012 MotoGP regulations was exactly how the claiming rule would work. The idea behind it is simple: to avoid CRTs pouring millions of dollars into engine development - in other words, to prevent factories hiding behind Claiming Rule Team entries - teams should be allowed to purchase the engines of the CRTs, thereby negating the benefits of high-spending engine R&D. There was good reason for scepticism about the claiming rules, as the rules once used in the AMA have been widely decried and were felt to be open to abuse, leading eventually to them being scrapped. Here at MotoMatters.com, we offered an example of just how the claiming rules could be used to circumvent the engine restrictions.
With claiming rules clearly capable of turning into a minefield, the details of the rules were eagerly awaited, and took a long time coming. On the Saturday of the Estoril MotoGP round, the Grand Prix Commission met to finalize the claiming rules, and issued a press release containing the new 2012 CRT regulations, which you can read below.

Motor racing, the most important are the GP races!
The Portuguese Grand Prix (Grande Prémio de Portugal) was a motorsports event held for several years, mostly in the 1950s and then in the 1980s and 90s. It was a Formula One race between 1958 and 1960 and between 1984 and 1996.
The first event was held on the Boavista street course in Porto on 17 June 1951 as a sports car race.[citation needed] The Grand Prix was moved to Monsanto Park, Lisbon, in 1954 as a one-off. The first Formula One race was held in 14 August 1958 in Boavista, followed in 1959 by a Grand Prix at Monsanto, return to Boavista in 1960, after which it was ended.

After a month's enforced rest, the MotoGP paddock has reassembled once again at Estoril, and at the press conference, the assembled riders - with one exception - looked as if they hadn't missed the media attention one single bit. The exception was Alvaro Bautista, the Rizla Suzuki rider barely able to believe his luck being back and with a chance of riding, just 41 days after breaking his femur in a horrific practice crash at Qatar.
Bautista positively beamed, speaking enthusiastically about the chance to start riding again, though still only cautiously optimistic he would be able to ride properly, the fracture still a little painful and without full motion in his leg. However, anyone who has followed Bautista's recovery process - driving to Madrid almost every day from his home in Talavera to spend time in a hyperbaric chamber. Sitting still is the one thing that motorcycle racers are not very good at, so spending a couple of hours doing nothing while getting a headache from too much oxygen is just about the worst thing you can do to a rider.

The open-top sports car segment has seen a lot of pretenders recently, cars that attempt to hang with the big boys only to be reminded that it takes another level of power and fast to be able to belong in elite group of open top sports cars. While other brands have had a problem designating which car belongs in what group, Lamborghini has had no problem doing so.
The Sant?Agata Bolognese-based automaker has finally released their latest exotic, the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Spyder Performante. Based on the Gallardo LP560-4 Spyder, the Gallardo Spyder Performante is what happens when Lamborghini engineers go the extra mile in further reducing the weight of an already lightweight supercar. While some may shun at the attempt, thinking that chopping off more weight would be next to impossible, the folks at Lamborghini set out to prove the naysayers wrong, reducing the car?s weight by 143 lbs, leaving it with a dry weight of just 3,274 lbs, which, in case you?re keeping score, makes this the lightest Lamborghini to be released in the open-top sports car segment.
This is the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Spyder Performante.
UPDATE 04/29/2011: Noted photographer, Jordan Shiraki, is sharing his amazing talent with us once again with some snapshots of the Performante taken during a two day stint with the super car as part of the vehicle’s first private photoshoot in the US. Check out the beautiful photographs in the gallery provided! Shiraki also shared a video of his encounter which you can check out after the jump!
Details on the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Spyder Performante after the jump.
